You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Lifeby Jen Sincero
You Are a Badass isn’t about becoming a badass; it’s about discovering the badass you always were on the inside. This book will teach you how to be happier, solve your problems more quickly, achieve success, and manage your time and money better.
Part 1: How You Got This Way
“Most people are living in an illusion based on someone else’s beliefs.”
Holding on to inaccurate subconscious beliefs are the reason you don’t have the things you want as they contradict your conscious desires. For example, if your parents had a messy divorce when you were a child, your subconscious may hold on to the belief that love doesn’t last and that marriage will only bring you stress. Even though you (and by this, I mean your conscious brain) may want to find “the one” and get married, your subconscious belief will turn you away from that path without you even knowing it.
Your “Ego” is the part of your brain that causes self-sabotage. When your Ego is in control, you may do things like cheat on your partner because you don’t feel worthy of love, or refuse to follow your dreams because you don’t think you are capable of achieving them. It operates according to the false beliefs you hold and limits you from accessing your full potential. When you decide to stop letting your Ego control your life and allow your true self to shine through, you will begin achieving the things you desire.
It takes the same amount of energy to believe that we’re awesome as it does to believe that we suck. While you may believe mostly negative things about yourself, most people around you believe the total opposite. In fact, if you were to look at yourself through someone else’s eyes, you would easily be able to see how amazing you are. Once you eliminate your self-doubt, you will start achieving all the things you are capable of.

Part 2: How To Embrace Your Inner Badass
“What other people think about you has nothing to do with you and everything to do with them.”
Don’t waste your time caring about what others think of you! Once you do that, you will feel a sense of liberation as you are finally free to be whoever you want to be. Otherwise, you will be stuck in your comfort zone, doing what you think you should be doing. Remember, no one ever achieved anything great from inside their comfort zone.
Once you do the things you want to do and find your calling, life becomes a party. Everything will fall into place, and you will be a lot closer to achieving your dreams.

Part 3: How To Tap Into The Motherlode
“Your job isn’t to know the how, it’s to know the what and to be open to discovering, and receiving, the how.”
Having the proper mindset for success is an absolute requirement to reach your goals. It’s not enough to simply do the things you need to do—you must truly believe you will succeed and be committed to your goals in your heart. If you subconsciously believe you aren’t good enough to succeed, you will not, it’s really that simple.
Meditation will be very useful in getting into that proper mindset. It is as simple as it is hard. It takes practice to be able to clear your mind of all thoughts for five minutes—but practice it enough, and you will notice the mindless chatter fading away so you can connect to your inner guidance. It acts as a respite from the madness of the world around us and will help you gain peace of mind.
Practicing gratitude will also help you get into the mindset you need to succeed. When you thank someone for anything, you feel great for receiving whatever it is you received, and they feel great for being appreciated. You bring good energy both into your life and theirs—it’s a win-win situation! Gratitude also strengthens your faith, and faith is extremely important in keeping your mindset geared towards success.

Part 4: How To Get Over Your B.S. Already
“We prevent ourselves from seeing the literally infinite sea of possibilities and opportunities surrounding us at every single moment.”
Many of us create unnecessary drama for ourselves. We’re set in our ways and have convinced ourselves that the reality we perceive is the only one there is. This is simply not true. What we focus on becomes our reality. So if we believe we aren’t capable of achieving something, we will subconsciously ignore all the opportunities we have to achieve that thing. The reverse is also true; if we believe our reality is that we can achieve what we desire, we will begin to notice all the opportunities and points of view that will get us just that.
It’s rarely a lack of experience or knowledge that holds us back from doing what we want to do, rather, it’s the lack of determination which leads to procrastination. Think about all the energy you put into thinking of excuses as to why you cannot achieve a certain goal. If you put all that energy into working towards the goal, you would have achieved it already!
Remember, fear is a part of life, one that will always be around. However, you do have the choice to give in to it or to stand up to and move past it. One of the important steps in doing this is to learn to be comfortable in the unknown. Remember, on the other side of fear is your freedom. When you fight your fears and overcome them, you will no longer be held back from achieving your desires.

Part 5: How To Kick Some Ass
“The only failure is quitting. Everything else is gathering information.”
If you’re the sort of person who struggles with making decisions, you’re more likely to give up as soon as it gets hard. When you make a clear decision, you commit to moving towards your goal no matter what obstacles come your way.
Failure is a normal part of life, and you are going to fail plenty of times before you succeed. Look at it this way: Each failure is a learning opportunity. You have the chance to examine what went wrong and try again with a different strategy. If you want to achieve your goals, you have to be prepared to fail, but committed to trying again.
You may feel like a lack of money is the reason for your failures. The good news is that there is a way to manifest the money you need to get what you want. All you need to do is change the way you perceive money. If you expand your beliefs about what is available to you and take a leap of faith to achieve the things you desire, the money you need will manifest.
