Do not fall for con artists who try to trick you into believing in their authority.

Do not fall for con artists who try to trick you into believing in their authority.

from Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion by Robert B. Cialdini

We all get the gift of creativity as children, but with time and external pressure, we lose our creativity. The biggest gift in this world is creativity, and if you use it right, you can build a great fortune.

How to Apply This

  1. Ask yourself, “Is this authority truly an expert?”
For example, if someone is an actor, their area of expertise is in acting. So, if they recommend a type of supplement, their recommendation is hardly credible as they are not an expert in the medical field.

  2. Then, ask yourself, “How truthful can we expect the expert to be here?”
Just because someone is an expert does not mean they won’t lie! Think about whether they have any reason to be untruthful. What do they stand to gain from your compliance?
