Make your website accessible

Instructions

  1. Make navigation your number one concern.
People need to find what they are looking for, so make your menu easy to navigate.  Remember to keep a site map at the bottom of the page in case someone gets lost.

  2. Make your information and site components easy to read.
Choose font sizes and shapes as well as color contrasts that can be read easily.

  3. Use alt text to describe your images.
This will help the visually impaired.

  4. Make sure the videos on your website are not distracting.
Videos are an important part of the new world of the web, but they have to be a choice and not an imposition on your website users.

  5. Use animations carefully.
When it comes to animations, you need to pay attention to what you consider fun versus what will actually work to advance your strategy. For example, loud, bright animations and those that suddenly pop up can be dangerous to people with specific medical conditions like epilepsy.
