Positively give feedback.
from Communication Skills Training: A Practical Guide to Improving Your Social Intelligence, Presentation, Persuasion and Public Speaking by Ian Tuhovsky
You have probably heard about the feedback sandwich. Well, it’s working. However, to use it correctly, we need to give attention to details and show our willingness to help.
How to Apply This
-
Say something positive.
For example, “Congrats on your first try!” It’s good to tell two or three things that they did well. -
Say what the person can improve.
Don’t say what was wrong, but rather focus on positive changes and growth. -
End with positive emotion.
You can say something like, “Well, as I said, generally, you did great!"
