Find your higher power

  1. Find the higher powers around you
This higher power doesn’t have to mean specifically God. It is something that is higher than you, so you can’t control it. Gravity is a higher power. Physics too. Get comfortable with the idea that you can’t control everything around you.
  2. Find the higher power you believe in
To the Stoics, their higher power was the logos—the path of the universe. Which meant acknowledging fate and fortune was above them. In Chinese philosophy, dao—the Way—is the natural order of the universe, the way of a higher spirit. The Greeks not only believed in many different gods but also that individuals were accompanied by a daemon, a guiding spirit that led them to their destiny.
Yours may be believing in balance. That doing good for others will eventually have a benefit on you. That’s a higher power too.
