Explore and develop empathy

Instructions

  1. Explore how empathetic you are through self-assessment tests.
There are several self-assessment tests that measure individual empathy and the qualities related to that. They are available for free on the web. A couple of examples are: Spot the Fake Smile Test and Mind in the Eyes Test.

  2. Study the work of Ekman.
‘Emotions Revealed’ and ‘Telling Lies’ are two books that serve as a guide to learning techniques of understanding and deciphering emotions.

  3. Take an acting class.
Acting is a great way to understand emotions and emotional expression.

  4. Volunteer more.
Volunteering gives you a glimpse of someone else’s world and helps you understand their emotions better.
