Define your purpose in life and build the strategy to achieve it

from Never Eat Alone: And Other Secrets to Success, One Relationship at a Time by Keith Ferrazzi

How to Apply This

  1. Find your passion.
Create two columns on a sheet of paper. In the first column, write down all your dreams and aspirations without censorship. In the second column, write down everything that brings you joy in life. This can include people, hobbies, and activities. Lastly, make connections between the first and second columns. The intersections are where you will find your purpose.
  2. Create a relationship action plan to solidify your goals.
Once you have decided on your purpose, create a three-column worksheet. At the top, write down what you want to achieve three years from now. Define smaller goals in one-year and three-month increments. Then, set an A goal and a B goal for each timeframe. For example, if your long-term A goal is to become a teacher, your B goal could be to become a teacher in a well-respected school in the area you want to live in. Finally, list the people that could help you achieve each goal.
  3. Create a personal board of advisors.
This could include family members, friends, or mentors who will help you stay focused and re-evaluate your goals where necessary. Make them part of your mission.
