Cultivate gratitude and joy.
from The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You're Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are by Brené Brown
How to Apply This
-
Practice gratitude.
Keep a gratitude journal where you write down the things you are grateful for, meditate on gratitude daily, stop during stressful and busy days to say, “I am grateful for …” out loud, etc. -
Acknowledge your fears and let go of anxiety.
Fear blocks joy: when we are anxious or fearful of something, we will not be able to feel joy. However, when we acknowledge our fears, we take away their power to block our joy. To let go of your anxiety, simply slow down and count to 10. Take even longer to think before making a decision if you need to. In the long run, exercise and cutting caffeine out will work wonders. -
Hold space for uncertainty - trust in your knowledge and insight.
Your experiences, faith, instinct, and reason are all trustworthy. Do not worry if the way forward is uncertain and clear. Believe in your ability to succeed, and you will.
