Connect authentically online

Instructions

  1. Diversify your feed.
Take a look at your existing social media news feeds. Check whether they contain posts and voices from diverse backgrounds, professions, ages, and locations. If your feed seems to lack variety, draw from your fringe network, and explore new interest and activity groups to make some new connections.
  2. Build and explore your fringe.
Allocate time each week to make and build your fringe lists across all your social media accounts. Take a look at what these people post and share and interact to expand your lists.
  3. Become a LinkedIn connector.
As a business introduction site, LinkedIn is a closed network. Connect with people you’d be confident to introduce professionally to someone else. Schedule time to introduce yourself to one new contact per month. Mention something you have noticed about their background or profile to make the introduction more personal.
  4. Create an editorial schedule.
Create a schedule for what type of content you want to share and a timeline of when it should be posted. This will help you to stay consistent and maintain engagement with your readers.
