Beware of the time and place when you use natural assets at your disposal

Beware of the time and place when you use natural assets at your disposal

from The Art of War by Sun Tzu

How to Apply This

  1. Pay close attention to environmental trends
Using forces beyond your control, such as a lucky coincidence, will have great benefits as they are often powerful opportunities and require less work. Remain perceptive and conscious of your environment and trends around you.

  2. When facing a challenge, stay personally and emotionally detached
A leader must never mobilize their resources out of anger, and must not fight out of spite. You must only mobilize for gain and halt if there is none.

  3. Think deeply and creatively but follow through with reasonable ideas
Fire is more destructive than water, but the latter can be a strategic asset too. It isolates but does not kill entirely. Not following through on an opportunity is a great waste. Make the most of every opportunity and use it to its full advantage.
