Write three pages of longhand every morning to supercharge your life.

Brian Koppelman is a screenwriter, novelist, director, producer, co-creator and executive producer of the hit show Billions, and co-writer of Rounders and Ocean’s Thirteen. He insists that writing three uncensored pages every morning is an absolute game-changer that clears the mind of clutter and worries. He says it enables us to identify and articulate the many wandering and confusing thoughts and problems we carry around in our minds each day. Then, we move forward and can problem-solve with clarity and vision. Brian says that if you follow this practice every day in a real and disciplined manner, something happens to your subconscious that allows you to get to your most creative place.

Instructions

  1. Get a cup of tea or your preferred beverage.

  2. Open your journal and write three longhand pages.
Write whatever is on your mind, no matter how earth-shattering or trivial. No censoring, no judging, no rereading. This is for you and only you.

  3. Keep going until you have filled three pages!
Just keep the pen moving for three pages, no matter what. The magic comes after you have written three pages a day for a few weeks.
