Work and have fun at the same time.

Many people take life too seriously and cut out all the joy. They are so focused on achievement that they are afraid that enjoyment will cost them.

Studies show that employees who have fun in the workplace take less sick leave, work harder, and are generally more productive.

Despite his super busy schedule, Musk still makes time for enjoyment. He likes to play games, go to movies, play with his kids, and read books.

Everybody around here has slides in their lobbies. I’m actually wondering about putting in a roller coaster—like a functional roller coaster at the factory in Fremont. You’d get in, and it would take you around [the] factory but also up and down. Who else has a roller coaster? … It would probably be really expensive, but I like the idea of it.

  1. Don’t take your workplace too seriously.
Adding more fun elements will make people work harder and be more productive.

  2. Enjoy your work.
There are always some elements of your work that you can enjoy. But only if you allow it to happen.

  3. Have fun regularly.
Despite working very hard, take some time off to have fun.
