Use technology to solve problems and automate systems

Instructions

  1. Use checklists to remember every important step to take.
Instead of relying on memory, create checklists to avoid overlooking vital action steps, ideas, or topics. For example, write down the agenda for your meeting to ensure you cover the most important topics.
  2. Use technology to keep track of essential tasks.
For example, you can use an app that automatically budgets your income and pays your bills. You can use an AI virtual assistant that analyzes your buying patterns and reminds you what to add to your shopping list. You can set calendar reminders on your phone for family and friends’ birthdays.
  3. Get to the root of the problem instead of focusing on superficial solutions.
For example, instead of apologizing for constantly completing your projects late, focus on improving your project workflow.
  4. Take simple steps to solve recurring problems before they get worse.
Let’s say you’ve been procrastinating about solving an irritating problem. Ask yourself: How much time/money has this recurring problem cost me over the last few days/weeks/months/years? What can I do immediately over the next few minutes to start solving this problem?
  5. Double-check your work to avoid mistakes.
For example, before submitting an important report to your boss, read through your work again to eliminate any mistakes. If you’re a building contractor, confirm the dimensions of your fixtures and fittings before sending instructions to the supplier. Double-checking can help you catch mistakes before they happen.
