Use negative emotions to your advantage.

Instructions

  1. Use anger to your advantage.
Use productive physical energy that you give you to anger, such as at the gym. Use anger as a motivation to be even better; if someone mocks you because of your weight,  use it to work hard on your goal and prove you can lose weight.

  2. Use anxiety and fear to your advantage.
You can use fear in two ways: First, do what you are afraid of and experience a sense of pleasure when you get your apprehension. Second, do what is needed to avoid something you fear. For example, if you fear diseases, that fear will make you take steps towards a healthier lifestyle. Write all your fears on paper, including the worst possible options, and then what you can do about them.

  3. Use sadness and despair to your advantage.
Understand that suffering is temporary, analyze what caused it, and consider whether it was truly worth it. Set goals for yourself and strive toward them while you concentrate on what matters most to you and what can help your recovery. Express your pain in creative mode, like through painting or writing.

  4. Use shame to your advantage.
Tell someone you trust about your feelings; they will understand and make it easier for you to fire a sense of shame. Accept that all people make mistakes, and it’s okay if you made it too. Accept it and continue working towards your goal.
