Use kindness against insults

Instructions

  1. Prepare yourself for sudden slaps of people around you.
All of life’s hits and blows are opportunities for practice. Each slap has the chance to stay calm and strengthen who you want to be and the risk of becoming more of who you don’t want to be.

  2. Rephrase the situation by asking: Who insulted me?
If it’s someone you respect, value her opinion and accept it as something you can improve on. If you don't respect the source, then why bother?

  3. Remember, it’s never the person who abuses or hits you, but your judgment about them that they are insulting.

  4. Keep yourself calm by saying to yourself: “I buy tranquility instead.”
Then smile, do what needs to get done, and move on with your life.

  5. Instead of fighting back, use your kindness as your weapon.
The next time you get treated meanly, don’t fight back but accept it. Don’t resist what happens. Accept it as it is and respond with tolerance and kindness. It’s always the best you can do.
