Use affirmations to change your negative beliefs.

Use affirmations to change your negative beliefs.

from How to Do the Work: Recognize Your Patterns, Heal from Your Past, and Create Your Self by Nicole LePera

How to Apply This

  1. Write down a list of your core beliefs.
Pay attention to the thoughts and narratives that run through your mind all day and write them down.

  2. Choose one belief.
From the thoughts and narratives you just noted in your list, pick one that you want to change. If you are not sure which one to pick, go with your first instinct. Alternatively, think about which belief would have the greatest positive impact on your life if you were to believe differently.

  3. Think about what you’d prefer to think in place of your chosen belief.
This could be the opposite of your currently held belief. For example, if you believe “I’m not good enough”, you can start with believing that “I’m enough.”

  4. Write down your new belief.
This will be your new daily affirmation and place it somewhere you can see it every day.

  5. Recite this affirmation to yourself at least once a day.
Choose a particular time of the day, such as during morning or evening time.
