Use a divergence test to assess your current level of creativity.
from Outliers: The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell
Creativity and imagination are actually very important in leading you to success. Raw intelligence can definitely take you a long way, but once you are competing with other intelligent people, creativity is what will make you stand out.
Try to come up with out-of-the-box, new, and interesting solutions and ideas, and train your creative thinking skills by attempting divergence tests every now and then!
How to Apply This
-
Write down as many uses as you can think of for 1) a brick and 2) a blanket.
Give yourself 10 minutes for this exercise. -
Look through your lists.
Are your uses practical or imaginative? Are they typical or out-of-the-box? (An example of a common use for a brick would be building, but a creative one would be to use it in a smash-and-grab raid.)
Evaluate each of your uses. This will give you a rough idea of your level of creativity.
