Understand yourself to connect with others on a deeper level

Instructions

  1. Put your knowledge of your internal systems to work.
When you understand your Emotional Command Systems (listed above), you can easily let go of your negative emotions. For example, if you are feeling angry because you can’t seem to control your work schedule, you might need to activate the commander-in-chief to get more control and power over your activities.

  2. Accept yourself and others the way they are.
This will result in better relationships through understanding and reconciling distinct differences. For example, you could let your explorer wife go hiking on the tallest mountain in the world if it’s satisfying to her even if your sentry self is worried she might be involved in an accident.

  3. Accept mismatches and work with them.
Find a common ground if you feel like you are approaching an issue from different perspectives. For example, if your sentry self feels secured sleeping with lights on while your roommate prefers darkness, you could opt to get a flashlight to keep under your pillow for use whenever you feel frightened.
