Trigger your motivation through actions

Instructions

  1. Move your body.
Find an activity you can start even if your motivation is low, something simple that you like—yoga, dancing, or walking, for example.
  2. Focus on your goal and make small steps.
Every day, remind yourself of your goal. Then break this down into smaller steps you can take daily. Write down 1-2 actions you have to accomplish and regularly review your progress at the end of the day.
  3. Change your perspective on failure.
Accept failure as a natural part of life, not a measure of your value. Consider a moment when you failed at something and were treated with warmth and support. What happened to that sensation? How did it help you try again and succeed? Let go of self-criticism and treat yourself with kindness whenever you experience failure.
  4. Act without motivation.
If an action supports your goal, remind yourself why you should resist a negative urge.
