Kickstart a cleaning routine

Instructions

  1. Pick your start date.
Choose a weekend or any free time you have to start the 7-Day Simply Clean Challenge. If you're overwhelmed by clutter, consider dedicating an extra day or two just for decluttering before diving into your cleaning routine.
  2. Start with decluttering.
Tackle clutter on day one. Look around and sort your stuff into four piles: things to throw away, to give away or sell, to move to where they belong, or to keep. Remember, the goal is to reduce clutter, not to achieve perfection on the first try.
  3. Clean the bathroom.
On day two, clean your bathroom from top to bottom. Gather all your cleaning supplies in one container for easy access. Start with the mirrors, move on to the countertops, and finish with the toilets. Give the cleaning products time to do their magic for a sparkling finish.
  4. Dust your home.
Dedicate day three to dusting. Start from the top floor and work your way down, using microfiber cloths to catch dust more effectively. Take it one room at a time to make sure you don't miss anything.
  5. Vacuum the floors.
On day four, vacuum your entire house, paying special attention to hard-to-reach spots. Use your vacuum's attachments to clean baseboards and furniture edges. Empty the vacuum bag or canister regularly to keep it working well.
  6. Wash floors and baseboards.
Spend day five mopping all hard-surface floors and wiping down baseboards. Start cleaning from the corner farthest from the door and work your way towards it.
  7. Catch up on missed tasks.
Day six is for catching up. Look over the past days and see if there’s anything you missed or want to redo. If you’re all caught up, take a little time to organize or declutter any areas that have gotten messy again.
  8. Focus on laundry.
Finally, on day seven, tackle all your laundry. Sort it into categories like clothes, bedding, and towels. Wash, dry, fold, and put everything away as soon as it's done to avoid laundry pile-ups. Clean your washing machine with white vinegar or non-chlorine bleach to keep it fresh and ready for the next load.
