Practice self-compassion

Instructions

  1. Identify the negative beliefs you have about yourself. Take time to reflect on the negative beliefs you hold about yourself. Write them down and try to identify where they came from. Recognize that these beliefs are not necessarily based on facts or reality.
  2. Challenge these beliefs. Evaluate these negative beliefs and question their validity. Are they true, or are they simply assumptions? Are they helpful, or are they hindering your progress? If they're bringing you more harm than good, try to replace them with positive affirmations or realistic and reasonable self-statements.
  3. Practice self-compassion. Talk to yourself in a kind and understanding way. Acknowledge your mistakes, but don't dwell on them. Practice forgiveness towards yourself and let go of self-blame and self-criticism.
  4. Surround yourself with positive people. Spend time with people who are supportive and encouraging. Avoid people who are overly critical and negative toward you.
