The 5 Second Rule

This habit forces you to focus on the positive aspects of your life. When you are focused on what you are grateful for, what is really important for you, you’ll start feeling grateful instead of worried.

How to Apply This

  1. When you recognize that you are starting to worry, reclaim control in five seconds.
Start to silently count “5- 4- 3- ...” meanwhile lowering the fear inside your body.

  2. Ask yourself, “What am I grateful for in this moment? What do I want to remember from this experience?”
You will realize that worrying doesn’t give you anything positive. You just lose that time.

  3. When you get nervous, don’t call it “nerves.” Call it “excitement.”
Physiologically, anxiety and excitement are the exact same thing.
