Spot games happening during a therapy session

Instructions

  1. Acknowledge the ego states present during the session.
When speaking with your therapist, identify which ego state is calling the shots. Observe whether the Child state is complaining or your Adult state is determined to solve a problem.
  2. Clarify what you want out of therapy.
Think about why you’re visiting a therapist. Is it because you’re looking for solutions, or are you more interested in a game of “Indigence?”
  3. Listen carefully to your therapist.
Take in the information you receive during your session. If advice, tips, or solutions are being given, write them down and implement them. If they don’t work, determine if the solution just wasn’t right for you or if there’s a game being played.
