Reflect on setbacks to gain clarity

Instructions

  1. Identify what you are feeling when faced with a setback
Ask yourself, “Do I feel disappointed/regretful/hurt/angry/scared/confused?” Cycle through different emotions until you find one that sticks. Admit to your feelings.

  2. Write down your draft about the setback
Write down your thoughts or conspiracy theories about the incident.

  3. Ask yourself, “Why did the incident happen?”
Try to find out what led to it.

  4. Figure out who is accountable for the setback.
Are you accountable for it or not? If yes, why and how? If not, who else is responsible for this setback or failure?

  5. Set aside irrational feelings after writing your draft.
You can now approach the issue with a clearer mind.
