Raise your standards.

Raising your standards is the first step in increasing your quality of life. Do not accept any less than you deserve.

  1. Make a list of everything you will no longer tolerate in your life.
Write it down, then cut these things out of your life. Practice zero tolerance.
  2. Keep this list as your “baseline” standard.
Basically, as long as you follow step 1 and practice zero tolerance, your quality of life will be what you deserve.

I'm thinking about this mindset quite often because I keep questioning what does it really means. You see, it's not just about raising your standards physically. I like minimalistic life, and I don't need a bigger car, a bigger house, more items from amazon, etc. This is just more liabilities, not more happiness.
I believe, that Tony Robbins is referring here to our social status, emotions, and finding our happiness. Very often we agree to live our lives, because "we deserved that". You did not deserve anything. Your actions, your choices led you to the situation you are in. And by raising your standards, you stop accepting the situation you don't really like, and advance to a much better version of yourself.
