Prime your body and mind for a successful day by designing a morning ritual.

Tim Ferriss says when you win the morning, you win the day. And this morning priming routine is his secret power. Successfully completing the first task (making the bed) encourages him to complete more tasks. A tidy bed also removes clutter and distraction from the mind—especially when working from home.

Meditation and mindfulness increase Tim’s awareness and the push-ups and other reps wake him up, lift his mood, and quiet mental chatter. The cold shower boosts the immune system, increases circulation and metabolism, and reduces stress. The tea blend is a fantastic pick-me-up and is also excellent for increasing mental cognition and fat loss. Start the day this way, and find your mind and body primed for success.

Instructions

  1. Make your bed.
Just ensure it is visually tidy. You have just achieved your first task for the day!

  2. Place an uplifting quote on the fridge or bathroom mirror and read it every day.

  3. Spend 10 to 20 minutes meditating or being mindful.
Focus on the breath, yoga, or whatever you prefer.

  4. Do 5 to 10 reps of something physical (e.g., push-ups, star jumps).
This is to wake you up and prime your state of being.

  5. Take a cold shower for 30 to 60 seconds.

  6. Prepare a cup of tea with a teaspoon each of black tea, green tea, and turmeric and ginger shavings.
If you prefer, you can also add two tablespoons of coconut oil.
