Overcome the status quo bias.

  1. Overcome your loss aversion.
Instead of focusing on what you are losing, consider the benefits the change will bring.

  2. Overcome your fear of regret.
Adopt a mindset that you can fix almost every mistake. If you make a mistake, learn from it and use it to make better choices in the future.

  3. Expose yourself to healthy thoughts and behaviors.
Repeat the behaviors or thoughts that increase your self-discipline and help you develop better habits.

  4. Make decisions rationally instead of relying on emotions.
Write down the benefits and disadvantages of staying in your present situation (comfort zone) and the benefits and disadvantages of other options (outside of your comfort zone). Weigh those options down and decide rationally.
