How to Apply This

  1. Reflect on your thoughts for the next 24 hours. Are your thoughts focused on the present moment?
    How do you feel when your thoughts are “stuck” in the past? How do you feel when they are focused on the future?
  2. Notice what you unintentionally pay attention to.
    Is there anything in your life that grabs your attention without you intentionally choosing to give it? Maybe it’s social media, gossip, or thoughts of the past?
  3. Notice when you feel most like you are paying attention, nonjudgmentally, on purpose in the present moment.
    What environment are you in? Are you alone or with others? How often do you feel like you are nonjudgmentally paying attention on purpose in the present moment? Write it down.
