Making a positive change will not happen unless you can stay focused and determined. Increasing your awareness about the change will help you develop a firm conviction about changing.

Keep in mind that change doesn’t happen overnight—it will take time, and you must be patient.


  1. Reflect on the consequences of not making a change.
    What is the real reason you need to change?

  2. Increase that awareness until it leads to a firm conviction about making a change.
    Remind yourself of the reason you need to change until you are fully determined to do so.

  3. Exert the effort to establish new habit patterns.
    Consciously decide to make your change every time you feel yourself slipping into old habits.
