Live a life of purpose

from Hyperfocus: How to Be More Productive in a World of Distraction by Chris Bailey

How to Apply This

  1. Interrogate how intentional your daily choices are
Ask yourself: How frequently do I choose what to focus on throughout my day? How much time do I spend, deliberately and with intention, deciding what I want to do and when I’ll do it?

  2. Classify your daily tasks into the 4 categories
Draw a 2 x 2 grid on a sheet of paper. Label the horizontal sections as Productive Work and Unproductive Work. Label the vertical columns as Attractive Work and Unattractive Work. Then assign your standard monthly tasks according to these 4 categories. This will help identify which of your work activities fall under Necessary Work, Purposeful Work, Distracting Work, and Unnecessary work.
