Interrogate yourself to identify your inner genius

Instructions

  1. Define the thing that you love to do the most
Ask yourself, “What work do I do that doesn’t seem like work?” Wonder about this question until you sense the answer forming in your body. All you need is a glimmer of it. This will help you identify an activity that you can do all day long without ever getting bored or tired.

  2. Identify the activity that gives you the most satisfaction
Ask yourself, “In my work, what produces the highest ratio of abundance and satisfaction to the amount of time spent?” Is it connecting to your staff or customers? Is it taking a few minutes to allow your mind to wander freely to generate new ideas? Look at your work and find that one thing that produces the greatest payoff.

  3. Be specific when articulating your unique ability
Begin with a general statement such as “I’m at my best when I’m…” and then dig deeper. For example, start with “I’m at my best when figuring out how to assemble a team.” Then aim for a more detailed description such as “When I’m putting together a team, the exact thing I’m doing is asking people intimate questions and enjoying the feeling of bringing people together based on their diverse talents.” You’ll know you’re getting closer to your unique ability when you sense an inner excitement.
