Identify the source of your Nice Guy script
from No More Mr. Nice Guy by Robert A. Glover
How to Apply This
-
Recall your childhood experiences to identify why you became so nice
On a piece of paper, write down or draw the messages you received from your family that implied that it wasn’t OK for you to be who you are. For example, did you grow up believing there’s something wrong with you because your dad yelled at you? Did you believe that you were only valued if you were different from your abusive mom? -
Record your feelings about your childhood experiences
Write down how you feel about these traumatic childhood experiences. Be honest and as detailed as possible. Then share them with someone you trust. Focus on naming the experience and emotion rather than blaming people.
