Identify the criteria for building your community

Instructions

  1. Determine the kind of people you want in your community
Your goal is to create a community that has depth. For example, if you want to be a leader in the hospitality industry, build relationships with bartenders, chefs, and restaurant owners instead of focusing only on bartenders. Also, be selective with who you connect with and bring into your community. Look for people in non-obvious circles who share your values instead of focusing solely on those who are within your industry.

  2. Think about your goal of building a community
What’s your goal for building a community? Is it for career advancement? If so, how do you define career advancement? What specific role do you want to play? Is this going to be a structured or unstructured group? Will it be open to everyone or invite-only? How and where will you meet the people you want for your community? Ask yourself these kinds of questions to create a clear roadmap for your community.
