How to Replace Pride with Genuine Self-Esteem


  1. Acknowledge the Unhealthy Nature of Pride
    Understand that pride is a negative emotion and does not come from a place of love.
  2. Release Pride
    Stop trying to defend your lifestyle, job, home, clothes, car, heritage, country, and religious and political beliefs.
  3. Develop Genuine Self-Esteem
    Become aware of your true value and worth, without feeling the need to be defensive.
  4. Replace Pride with Love
    Love all of the things that you were previously proud of, such as family, country, and accomplishments. This inner awareness is different from the energy of pride.
  5. Gain Inner Security
    Let go of the need to be validated or to prove yourself right, and the challenges against you will disappear. This brings inner security and self-esteem.
  6. Examine the True Nature of Pride
    Ask yourself why you seek pride and what its payoff is.
  7. Be Aware of Your Pridefulness
    Notice your mannerisms, expressions, style of dress, possessions, and brand names you choose. Avoid taking pride in how much you have been exploited.
