How to Apply This

  1. Apply get-up-and move strategies in the classroom or at home
Strengthen focus and attention by completing task-focused activities, exercises, or obstacle courses

  2. Join a martial arts, yoga, and/or meditation class
This will improve your balance, focus, emotional regulation, and memory.

  3. Meditate using the  ‘Ha’ breathing technique
     - Inhale through your nose to a count of three or four
     - Exhale through your mouth to a count of six or eight, making a soft haa sound
     - Use an inhale/exhale relationship of 1:2 in terms of ratio

  4. Exercise for at least 20 minutes per day
Choose activities you enjoy and vary what you do. Some ideas include aerobics, balance and strength training, dance, racket or team sports, and martial arts.

  5. Arrange a regular exercise routine with a spouse, friend, or child.
It’s helpful to be accountable to someone, is fun, and enables added bonding time.
