Give interesting answers to common questions with facts.

Instructions

  1. Learn some engaging facts about your hometown and your job.

  2. Whenever someone asks you the inevitable, “Where are you from?” or “What do you do?” supplement your answer with these facts.
For example, if you are from Washington, D.C., you could say, “Washington, D.C., you know, designed by the same city planner who designed Paris.” The facts you choose to answer with should be adjusted to your setting - at a social party of singles, for example, you could say. “I’m from Washington, D.C. The reason I left is there were seven women for every man.”

  3. Introduce people by saying something interesting about them to start a conversation.
For example, “Susan, I’d like you to meet John. John has a wonderful boat we took a trip on last summer. John, this is Susan Smith. Susan is editor in chief of Shoestring Gourmet magazine.”
