Frame your day with a morning and evening routine

from The Little Book of Stoicism: Timeless Wisdom to Gain Resilience, Confidence, and Calmness by Jonas Salzgeber

How to Apply This

  1. Journal as part of your morning routine
Keep a journal and answer the following questions each morning: What do I still lack to achieve freedom from negative emotions? What do I need to achieve tranquility? What am I? (Or, what role do I play?)

  2. Ask yourself throughout the day: Is this essential?
Do what needs to get done. If you catch yourself wasting time on unessential things which are not relevant to your daily duty, remind yourself: you have things to do.

  3. Review your day each evening
Sit down with your journal and answer these questions: What bad habit have I put right today? Which fault did I take a stand against? In what aspect am I better?

  4. Reflect on what you did good, what you could do better, and what you need to do to be the best
Good: What did I do well today?
Better: How could I improve? What could I do better?
Best: What do I need to do to be the best version of myself?
