Focus on the things that make you feel good and happy

Instructions

  1. If you are feeling sad right now, get two sheets of paper and a pen.

  2. On the first sheet of paper, write down the thoughts that caused you to feel sad. Maybe you’re thinking about your insecurities, mistakes, faults, shortcomings, negative circumstances, etc. Whatever those are, make sure to write them all down.

  3. On the second piece of paper, list all the things that make you grateful.
Maybe you have a family, a friend, or anyone close to you that loves you for who you are. It could also be your talents, strengths, accomplishments, or possessions. Whatever those things are, make sure to write as many as you can.

  4. Re-read what you’ve written on both papers.
Say this to yourself “If I want to be truly happy, I’ll choose to focus on this second paper. This is what will make me feel good and grateful each day.”

  5. Post the second paper where you can always see it.
This will serve as your reminder that no matter what happens, there are still lots of reasons that can make you happy.
