Evaluate the most important areas of your life

Instructions

  1. Gauge the current state of your health
Ask yourself, “How is my health going? Do I have a healthy body? Do I have an engaged mind? Do I have a healthy spiritual practice? What is my diet like?” Then imagine a gauge that reads zero to full. Ask yourself, “Is my health gauge at ¼ full, ½ full, ¾ full, or full? This will help you know to what extent you need to redesign your health.
  2. Gauge your current working life
Make a list of all the things you do that constitute “work” e.g. your job, side hustles, volunteering, raising children, taking care of your elderly parents, and housework. Rate your satisfaction level with your work. Is your gauge ¼, ½, ¾, or totally full?
  3. Gauge your play life
Examine the activities that bring you joy just for the sake of doing them. Make a list of these activities and ask yourself whether your gauge is ¼, ½, ¾, or completely full. Avoid listing any activities that are competitive or involve playing to win.
  4. Gauge your love life
Think about your relationships with your partner, your children, family members, friends, community, and pets. Assess where the love is flowing in your life and where it isn’t. Is your love flowing both ways or is it one-sided? Then use your gauge to determine how full your love life currently is.
  5. Compare your 4 gauges to know where you stand and where to start
Are you happy with all 4 areas of your life? Do you have balance in these areas? Which areas need action the most? Have you identified problems in these areas? Are these problems actionable or are they gravity problems? These questions will give you a good idea of how to redesign your life.
