Enhance your awareness of your current boundaries

Instructions

  1. Identify the feelings that were forbidden in your home.
    Are there any emotions that you were punished for expressing during your childhood? Do you have any emotions you’d rather not experience as an adult? Pay attention to these feelings and write them down as they come up. Then honor those feelings by acknowledging their validity.
  2. Create your Zen Den to practice self-care.
    Choose a room or a corner of a room and set up a sacred space. Decorate this area with soothing items to make it comfortable and inviting. You can set up candles, cushions, crystals, essential oils, or whatever nourishes and uplifts you. Use this space to recharge, meditate and journal.
  3. Practice daily meditation.
    Start with five minutes of sitting still and taking deep, slow breaths. Use a simple mantra such as “So hum,” repeating “so” on the inhalation and “hum” on the exhalation. Do this every morning and increase the timeframe as you become more adept at it. Meditation will train you to respond rather than react to situations that violate your boundaries.
