Elevate your mood by laughing at yourself and posting daily vlogs.

Shay Carl’s SHAYTARDS channel now has roughly 2.5 billion views. He co-founded Maker Studios, which sold to Disney for nearly $1 billion. He finds that laughing at himself breaks down the burden of being pretentious. There’s great strength in not taking things so seriously. He discovered that acting as though you are energetic and happy in a daily video, actually changes your physiology. Tim Ferriss gave it a try and agrees there is real power in this, you will actually feel better. He says the effects of acting more upbeat seem to last at least 2 to 3 hours—not bad for a 10- to 12-minute investment.

Instructions

  1. Look in the mirror and laugh at yourself.
Loosen up and be a bit silly. Life doesn’t have to be serious all the time.

  2. Post daily videos or ‘vlogs’ (video + blogging).
No matter how you feel, sit up straight, put a smile on your face, record from your phone for 10 minutes, and upload the video to YouTube. It’s about making it and posting it, not the production quality.
