Challenge the status quo.

Challenge the status quo.

from The 4-Hour Workweek by Timothy Ferriss

The New Rich challenges the status quo because everything that’s popular is not necessary better. The opposite is more true. Most popular things are wrong. Doing things in a different way may help you get the life you dream about. The New Rich do things differently when it’s more effective or more fun.

How to Apply This

  1. Ask yourself:
“How has being ‘realistic’ or ‘responsible’ kept me from the life I want?”
“How has doing what I ‘should’ resulted in subpar experiences or regret for not having done something else?”

  2. Look at what you’re currently doing and ask yourself:
“What would happen if I did the opposite of the people around me? What will I sacrifice if I continue on this track for five, 10, or 20 years?”

  3. When you solve a problem and the results are subpar, ask yourself:
“What would happen if I did the opposite?”
