Instructions

  1. Identify Your Team’s Current Stage. Use the four stages—Orientation, Dissatisfaction, Integration, Production—to pinpoint where your team spends most of its time by considering morale, productivity, and behaviors.

  2. Provide the Matching Leadership Style. Use Directing/Structuring for new teams, Resolving for conflict, Integrating for trust-building, and Validating for high-performing teams. Adjust your approach as the team evolves.

  3. Facilitate Honest Conversations on Team Dynamics. Regularly schedule debriefs where the team reflects on both task progress (what) and process (how), cultivating habits of self-correction and shared leadership.
