Batch all similar tasks and do them at once.

from The 4-Hour Workweek by Timothy Ferriss

Do you know how much time and money it takes to print 20 customized T-shirts? One week and $300. And how much time and money does it take to print only three customized T-shirts? One week and $300. The setup cost does not change, and thus the job, despite its small size, is pretty much the same.

This is similar to work you do on a daily basis. If you make payments for bills five days a week, it will take much more time than batching all payments and doing everything at once.

How to Apply This

  1. Think about tasks that you do regularly and can be done all at once.
For example, phone calls to your partners, bill payments, groceries.

  2. Schedule time in your calendar to do all of these tasks once per week or even per month.
This step is not necessary, but it will give you a feeling of control—a feeling that there will be time to do all these important things, and you don’t have to worry about them right now.
