Define your Massively Transformative Purpose

Define your Massively Transformative Purpose

from The Art of Impossible: A Peak Performance Primer by Steven Kotler

How to Apply This

  1. Write down the 15 huge world problems you’d like to solve.
Be specific. Examples of these include “child hunger,” “protecting biodiversity,” and “poverty.”

  2. Among your list, pick the top three problems you’d like to solve.

  3. Find intersections between your mission statement and the things you are curious about.
Write 25 things you're curious about and the top three world problems you’d like to solve or fix. Your mission statement will be the underlying theme of the three biggest issues you want to be solved. Then see how your natural curiosities can help those three problems.

  4. Cultivate mastery and autonomy with 2.5h of daily practice.
15% of your life, or 2.5h of each day, should be focused on mastering your core passion and purpose. Aim for the sweet spot between your skills and the daily challenge - you want to keep the challenge high enough to improve, but not too high, so you stay motivated.
