Curate and leverage the art of selectivity to create the relationships you want

Instructions

  1. Assess yourself to determine whether you’re in control of your relationships
Ask yourself: Am I in control of my relationships or am I giving that control to others? If you’re not in control, how can you get control back and how will you use it once it’s back in your possession? This can help you determine who or what deserves your time and why.

  2. Assess your habits and activities to weed out the ones you don’t want
What activities did you engage in over the past week? Which of those activities was worth your time? Which activities can you invest more time in and which ones can you eliminate? Write down this information in a 2-column chart. Column 1 can be your traits and those of the activities you enjoyed investing time in. Column 2 can be your traits and those of the activities you didn’t enjoy investing time in. Focus on those activities you enjoy doing and cut out the rest.

  3. Assess the people you’re spending time with
Who did you spend time with over the past week? Who was worth your time and who wasn’t? Write down this information in a 2-column chart. Column 1 can be your traits and those of the people you enjoyed spending time with. Column 2 can be your traits and those of the people you didn’t enjoy spending time with. Focus on cultivating relationships with people you enjoy being with and gradually separate yourself from those you don’t.
