To successfully cross the chasm, you have to make people talk about your product. They will not talk about it because you asked them to or because you worked so hard. They will only do it when talking about your product will give them some value. For example, people talk about Instagram because it causes them to gain new followers. People also talk about other products because it makes them feel better, special, proud, etc.
You need to make people talk about your product, and they will do so only when they have a clear answer to those two questions:
What will I tell my friends?
Why will I tell them?
Make products that have a network effect, a reason for sharing.
Give people the “why”. It usually involves changing what you offer.
