Your breathing room is a room where you can be alone and practice breathing and smiling in difficult moments. It is essentially a room of peace, where you can withdraw to rest and recuperate whenever you need to.
Decorate your breathing room simply.
You may want to include a few cushions or chairs and even a vase of flowers, which you can arrange yourself. It’s also a good idea to include a bell, one with a sound you enjoy hearing.
Use your breathing room to unwind and destress whenever you need to.
Practice conscious breathing in this room whenever you feel overwhelmed with life. Sound the bell before you begin. One way to practice conscious breathing is to say, “Breathing in, I know that I am breathing in,” and, “Breathing out, I know that I am breathing out,” as you breathe in and out. Alternatively, you can just say “In” and “Out.” Another way to develop conscious breathing is to recite this poem: “Breathing in, I calm my body. Breathing out, I smile. Dwelling in the present moment, I know this is a wonderful moment!”. These exercises will help you unite your body and mind and help you live in the present.
