Create eco-friendly home cleaners

  1. Gather your basic cleaning ingredients.
There are only five main ingredients for homemade cleaning: water, white vinegar, baking soda, castile soap or a natural dish soap, and hydrogen peroxide. These common household items form the base for a range of cleaning mixtures.
  2. Craft a multi-use cleaning spray.
In a glass spray bottle, combine 1 1/4 cups of water, 1/2 cup of white vinegar, and 10 drops of your chosen essential oils. This concoction is suitable for most surfaces and infuses your cleaning process with a fresh scent.
  3. Formulate a strong disinfectant solution.
In a glass spray bottle, mix together 1 1/4 cups of water, 1/4 cup of white vinegar, 1/4 cup of vodka or rubbing alcohol, and 15 drops of essential oils. Apply to surfaces, wait for 10 minutes, then wipe off for a sanitized surface.
  4. Prepare a soft scrub for sinks.
Mix 2 cups of baking soda with 20 drops of essential oils in a container with a lid or a shaker top. Sprinkle this mixture onto a wet sink, add a small amount of dish soap, scrub, and rinse for a gleaming finish.
  5. Make a safe cleaner for stone surfaces.
In a glass spray bottle, blend 3 tablespoons of rubbing alcohol, 1 1/2 cups of water, and 1 teaspoon of castile or dish soap. This formula is specifically designed to clean marble and granite surfaces gently.
  6. Create a solution for streak-free glass and mirrors.
Combine 1 1/2 cups of water, 1 1/2 tablespoons of white vinegar, 1 1/2 tablespoons of rubbing alcohol, and 3 drops of essential oils in a spray bottle. Use this solution with a microfiber cloth for cleaning glass and mirrors without leaving streaks.
  7. Label and organize your homemade cleaners.
Store your DIY cleaning solutions in glass bottles with clear labels to prevent any mix-ups and to preserve their potency. Always shake the bottles before use to ensure the ingredients are thoroughly mixed.
