Clarify your values and priorities
from The Daily Stoic: 366 Meditations on Wisdom, Perseverance, and the Art of Living by Ryan Holiday, Stephen Hanselman
How to Apply This
-
Schedule a fixed time for a regular reflection on your values and priorities.
You can do this daily, weekly, or monthly. -
Look over your life–both in past and present and ask yourself: what do I deeply value?
You can think of meaningful achievements, inspirational figures, or valuable experiences. -
Make a list of up to 10 words, phrases, or images that reflect your values.
-
Write down your answers to the following questions:
- How much of my time, energy, and life do I currently dedicate to what I value the most?
- How much time or energy do I want to devote to them?
- What are three specific things I can do (or stop doing) to prioritize my values?
